Taproot

Taproot is defined as "a straight tapering root growing vertically downward and forming the center from which subsidiary rootlets spring."- Oxford Dictionary

I find myself very curious about the human and energetic equivalent of the taproot.

My body notices energy primarily through sensation and imagery. And when I sense and see the taproot this happens:

I feel a downward line that roots me and organizes me, I begin to feel a sway in my body and it feels as if I am hanging with a firm, flexible lightness. The picture is like a very, very fine vibrating violin string, somehow encoded with the unique wisdom that drives alignment and action through the course of this lifetime.

Does my taproot get gnarled sometimes? Undoubtedly yes. If I am trying to avoid something within me or my life, it curls like a twisty tree, or a carrot growing in a an overcrowded garden bed. However the beauty of working with energy is that often our dedication, honesty, and intention can shift things in the vibratory field that may take much longer to shift in the physical.

Can you feel your own taproot- perhaps like an anchor? Tethering you into this moment, and now this moment?

In a poetic way you can imagine a strong vibrant, alive, and flexible line...

Does it begin at your head or above it, as if a spirit hand is holding the top?
Does it feed that magnetic field of your heart? The largest magnetic field in the body.
Does it arrive in your pelvis playing notes of intuition and vitality?

Can you imagine it moving through the whole length of you and down to the center of the earth.. what if you picture it, right now at this exact moment, moving from your pelvis through the floor beneath you, into the soil and dirt, penetrating the rock, water, underground caverns, crystal. Moving still- it navigates the outer earth core, liquid mineral and fire, and hooks into the inner core, that deep pull of gravity and power that keeps us all on this planet.

What are the sensations in your body as you visualize this taproot? Or what do you see, hear, notice as you sense your alignment. What if it is easy, available, already in tune?

You are here, alive, reading this. You are connected and connecting. So you are rooted in a big or small way. If we accept the fact we are rooted here as humans for a while, what can change? The root may knot and gnarl at times, but perhaps it can never break. We have on some level agreed to this relationship with body and earth, so how might we align our taproot... or how might we allow our taproot to align us?
